About Us
Welcome to the Oldways Table! My name is Alison, a foodie and wine lover in Boston, and the Social Media Manager at Oldways.
Oldways is an internationally respected non-profit, with the mission to change the way people eat through practical and positive programs grounded in science, traditions, and delicious foods and drinks. As the creators of the Mediterranean Foods Alliance, the Whole Grains Council, and the Latino Nutrition Coalition, we have also been credited with successfully translating the complex details of nutrition science into the familiar language of food. You may have seen our Mediterranean Diet Pyramid at the grocery store or in your favorite health magazine.
At Oldways, we’re a family, which is why every single staff member writes on this blog. That way, you can get to know us and also get to see our different personalities. The Oldways Table is a place for us to come together to talk with others about our favorite things: food, wine, travel, and those who are closest to us. Whether it’s trying a new recipe or jetting off to a new country, we’re always up to something. We hope you join us at the Table to take part in the fun!
Again, welcome to the Oldways family. Now let’s eat!

Good luck with the blog! I’ll drop by now and then to see what’s up.
As healthcare reform efforts heat up in Congress in the near future, I’m sure they’ll ignore the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. When we prevent cardiovascular disease, dementia, cancer and diabetes with the Mediterranean diet, that’s less money we have to spend on them.
Thanks for helping to spread the word.

Thanks to you too, Steve, for all your work!
I really find your organization very interesting and am happy to have found your blog!
Good luck! I’m trying to implement more Mediterranean way of living, but it’s difficult because I’m gluten intolerant and about the only grain I’ve eaten so far that doesn’t leave me seriously achy or bloated is rice.
I hope you post more recipes sans wheat. I’m also mostly dairy intolerant (except for goat/sheeps milk), but that’s neither here nor there since Mediterranean eating isn’t dairy heavy.
Thanks for spearheading such a great cause!
